Components

Your plumbing system is comprised of 3 main parts with each one playing a key role.

Pipes and Fittings

Your pipes and fittings run throughout your home or establishment and make up the majority of your plumbing system. From water intake to waste irrigation, our team of specialists will install and help you maintain an effective, long-lasting and cost-efficient plumbing system.

Fixtures

Your fixtures, which include sinks, toilets, washing machines, and dishwashers, are the access points from your water supply and to your vents. Proper installation and maintenance care are important to ensure secure fitting and a long lifespan.

Drainage

What goes in must come out and proper disposal is important to avoid unwanted leaks and potential damage to your home or establishment’s structure.

Contact us today if you suspect that your system needs an update and we will gladly help you out.

Plumbing System Types

There are various plumbing system types, compositions and material, and what’s best for you depends on your specific and unique needs.

Copper

The tried and tested, copper pipes has been used for plumbing for decades and are still a popular choice until today.

They are durable, corrosion-resistant, and recyclable and can be found in both old and new homes and buildings. The main con is its cost with copper being the most expensive type of pipe available on the market.

Cast Iron & Galvanised Steel

These types of pipes are more common in older builds and were used for their hard-wearing and noise reduction properties.

However, they are prone to rust and corrosion and with the emergence of new types of material, they are replaced with PEX or copper pipes.

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

Mainly made of plastic, this material is lightweight, durable, low-cost, has a smooth inner lining thus making it resistant to sediment build-up, can withstand high water pressure, and doesn’t rust. The only downside is that plastic cannot withstand high water temperatures and concerns about potential levels of toxicity when transporting drinking water.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)

Within the same family as the PVC and PEX pipe, the ABS pipe enjoys similar characteristics that make it one of the go-to’s for water supplies. One of the main differences is its higher resilience to cold water and weakness to prolonged exposure to sunlight (warping). It also does not contain sound well and may be noisier than other pipe types.

Cross-linked Polyethylene (PEX)

PEX pipes carry similar pros to PVC pipes in that they are both made of durable, lightweight material that can withstand high water pressure. One of the main differences is that PEX pipes are more flexible than PVC and there is a PEX variant that is strong enough to withstand hot water.

Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC)

Think of it as the super-charged cousin of the PVC pipe. It has the same characteristics but with a high-temperature tolerance – up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit!
